This research work makes deep findings into the relationship and interconnectedness that exist between language and ideology. It takes its case study from the movie, Once Upon A Time In Niger Delta. A purposive sampling method is used by the researcher to carefully select the ideologies embedded utterances used in Once Upon A Time In Niger Delta for qualitative analysis. Furthermore, this research work takes as its theoretical framework the Ruth Wodakâs Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) which helps the researcher to critically examine the utterances extracted from the movie studied and to explore the embedded ideologies in them. The research reveals the role language plays in bringing to the fore the myriads of socio-cultural, political and environmental issues that are constantly facing the people of Niger Delta region of Nigeria. The work concludes that language is used to communicate the ideology of the people of Niger Delta and that the movie exposed viewers to the hidden dangers facing them and the growing need for all to join the struggle for their freedom.
