The Use of Simile in the Stylistic Analysis of Abubakar Adam Ibrahim's Season of Crimson Blossoms

Abstract

This study explores simile in the stylistic analysis of Abubakar Adam Ibrahim’s Season of Crimson Blossoms. The objective of this study is to describe the figurative language found in the text and analyses the frequency in which each of the figurative language occurs in it. With M.A.K Halliday’s Systemic Functional Grammar, this study investigates simile as a figurative language in the stylistic analysis of the text. The research design of this study is descriptive and analytical. It was discovered that the author uses the figurative language of simile as a stylistic device which helps in the interpretation of his work and understand the society in which he lives in. It can be concluded that figurative language such as simile plays important roles in the comprehension of the two texts.
