This paper aimed at presenting the historical record of the genre of poetic play from the Arabs, the country of Nigeria, down to the Ilorin Emirate. That was done after the literary and technical definitions of the poetic play with the look into its peculiarities. Thereafter, a geographical and historical account was showcased for Ilorin as a city and as an emirate, while samples of the poetic play by Ilorin Arabic writers were concisely presented.The historical method was used for documentation of the record of the genre of poetic play from the Arabs, the country of Nigeria, down to the Ilorin Emirate, while the inductive method was adopted for concise presentation of the poetic plays sampled. Among the major findings of the paper was that Ilorin Arabic writers have joined their counterparts in the Arab world for addressing the humanitarian issues and solving the arising problems, in terms of culture, religion, society, economy, politics and governance. It is also noteworthy that the level of the writers' conformity to the established rules of the poetic play writing which comprised of many components and features is of high standard; which connotes their appropriate consultations with the sources of the poetic play theories. It is therefore recommended that the Ilorin Arabic writers continue to produce more poetic play samples for solving the arising problems at all times, together with other literary genres, in their works.
