DESCRIPTION OF BIRD IN THE NIGERIAN ARABIC POETRY: AN ANALYTICAL STUDY
Bird had gained interests of many Arabic poets for description, in different patterns, across their literary periods with resourceful fictions, plausible meanings and elegant styles. This is due to uniqueness of the bird in its physical look, gesture and attitude. The objective of this study was to analyze the poems composed by the Nigerian Arabic poets as the scope, in order to inquire into their capabilities in describing the physical and attitudinal peculiarities of the bird, with selection of appropriate words, good expressions and viable imaginations, which proffered their poems with clearness, strength and beautification. Therefore, the descriptive method was adopted for the study. The major finding of the paper was that the Nigerian Arabic poets displayed their literary endowments in the composition of their works. It was therefore, recommended that other poets should follow their steps in writing poems on other natural creatures.
