Leadership in Africa establishes class differentiation. This creates a yawning gap between the leaders and the led which results into inequality among citizens. Inequality, as it is evident everywhere it persists, is intertwined with injustice. It is also common knowledge that peace cannot be guaranteed where injustice reigns. But the reign of injustice created by leadership patterns is a common phenomenon among almost all African leaders. It then becomes imperative for Africans to adopt a certain intercultural philosophy that will guarantee good leadership in Africa devoid of crass inequality and social injustice. This philosophy is that which advocates for ontological equality. This is equality in terms of specific essence. The primordial equality in which all men are equal as to the existential state whose realization for each individual is required by our essence and divine order. Since the data for this work is non-numerical, the qualitative research approach was adopted in gathering and analyzing data, using both primary and secondary sources. The paper finds out that ontological equality is an intercultural philosophy which emphasizes intersubjectivity and common humanity and if adopted by African leaders will birth good leadership on the continent.
