PROCESS THEISM AND DIVINE OMNIPOTENCE

I. J. EKPO
Abstract

The purpose of the current study is the advancement of the Process understanding of God according to Alfred North Whitehead. Process Theism according to Whitehead presents God as the principle of 'concretion'. This means that God is the genus of all creative activity and that this generic character has the being of God as well as the lowliest actual occasion. Among others, traditional Theism is a staunch rebuttal to Process Theism. The writer attempts to correct the notion of God’s omnipotence in traditional Theism and resolve the problem of evil. This paper concludes that it is Process Theism that can offer a more viable vision of Christian Deity and gain more adherents to the Christian faith.
