This paper gives a prescriptive analysis of ethical leadership as a veritable tool for national transformation, which will address the problems of inter-ethnic, inter-religious and inter-generational conflicts; and the perceived problem of social injustice that characterizes the Nigerian political landscape in recent time. The paper outlines the imperatives of ethical leadership and prescribe same for Nigerian political governance which will facilitate the actualization of the Nigerian dream of national transformation. Within the Nigerian context, national transformation entails a thriving economy, an egalitarian society, a just, democratic and peaceful society, and society of equal opportunities for all. These ideals are what inform the formation of the Nigerian State and it ought to be the defining principles for all government’s policies and decisions. Though many scholarly works has been done around issues of leadership and the Nigerian sociopolitical situation, however, one fundamental problem is around ethical imperatives that can guide leaders in the act of governance. Nonetheless, it is the contention of this paper that National transformation that will address the issues of social injustice, peace-building in Nigeria, can be possible when Nigerian Leaders, imbibes the culture of Ethical Leadership. The paper employs the method of critical analysis.
