JATREP - Journal of African Traditional Religion and Philosophy

The special child within the African environment needs to be properly provided for in order to ensure a comprehensive preservation of the African philosophy, legacy and march forward. There are provisions recently made to protect their interests in the formal education setting of Nigeria. This paper outlines these provisions and makes further propositions bearing in mind the need to continue the refinement of the African educational system to perfection. The paper calls on all stake holders in the society, particularly the teacher to join in the task of rescuing the challenged and enrich the African heritage and philosophy.
