In Nigeria, ethnic self-preservation is a necessity for most ethnic groups. However, not much is known about how the Anaguta people of Plateau State preserve their collective ethnic identity through their festival of arts, culture and spirituality. Through their annual ishokori-anaguta, the Anaguta people of Central Nigeria showcase and cherish their traditional arts, culture and spirituality. In this way they are able to preserve their ethnic identity in a cosmopolitan Jos environment and a globalised world laden with factors that can erode traditional cultural values, spirituality and ethnic identity.
