Gombe metropolis in Gombe State, located in North-East Nigeria, is a diverse society. However, this diversity currently faces challenges that obstruct peaceful coexistence due to cultural differences and a lack of mutual understanding. This lack of understanding often results in strained relationships and occasional social instability. This study investigates peace education as a vital instrument for enabling effective dialogue between the various cultures in Gombe. The research argues that without peace education, the fundamental principles required for successful dialogue are absent, leading to community tension. Using Albert Bandura’s (1969) Social Learning Theory as a framework and analysing qualitative data from interviews, the research suggests that peaceful coexistence is possible if peace education is integrated into the local socialization process. The study recommends that government should include Peace education in the school curriculum in the school system. The study concludes that peace education should be a core part of the educational curriculum from early childhood through university levels.
