Jude I. ONEBUNNE, PhD Ifeoma NNAEMEKA Jacinta Uju EZEOBINWA
Abstract

COVID-19 is a novel disease of the 21st Century just like other pandemics of the past centuries of human existence. But unlike other deadly outbreak of killer diseases in history, COVID-19 is surrounded with conspiracies and shrouded in confusion and lies which have to do with the conspicuous silence at the dawn of this disease by WHO and Chinese Government who were first to encounter this deadly monster of a disease. It continues with the mystery masking its curative and preventive measures linking new world order and the war of the global market. In this light I employed African Philosophy of Education. However, African philosophy is philosophy as it is done in and for Africans and others. It is a by-product of human enterprise on the proper interpretation of people’s culture and weltanschauung. It is philosophy done within African philosophical tradition designating the corpus of African philosophical writings. By implication therefore, African philosophy of education is a discipline done in an African context with different aspects and complexities of teaching and learning amidst challenges as an African person. In this respect, African philosophy of education is a contextual education. And in our context it is the application of African philosophy of education on COVID-19 Pandemic within the bounds of African context. Using the method of hermeneutics, the paper shows that with proper orientation based on African Philosophy of Education, COVID-19 Pandemic may be well appreciated in its positive and negative consequences as mere sickness that can be prevented and or cured.
