Dialogue is at the heart of conflict resolution and peace mediation. Dialogue has also been considered to be very important in human relation as it facilitates a medium of engaging with other humans using words in a constructive manner that engenders peace and good neighborliness. Martin Buber is regarded as a very significant figure that has done so much in terms of widening the scope of dialogue by his relational construct of “I and Thou” as an authentic way of engagements needed for humans as against the “I-It’ relationship. This paper critically examined Buber’s relational construct from the pigeon hole of understanding dialogue and its place for human harmonious relationship. The major finding of the paper is that human relationship requires the kind of deep analysis that Buber carried out and much more than that, dialogue has to be understood as a consequence of human quest and will to mitigate conflicts and live in peace.
