The Britain that colonized Nigeria and some European countries like United State, UK and France do not mean well for her. The West has accorded the position of inventor of ideologies to herself. She believes that providence has placed her ahead so as to play this important role. But the irony of the whole matter is that the way she plays this role is suffocating and destroying Nigeria. Those ideologies and decisions strengthen her own economy and politics, while weakens Nigeria’s economy and her institutions. They have bulldozed their way in as a force that regulates global economy, politics, regulates international trade and determines exchange rate. And so have become principality that determines what should stand as World Order, philosophy, economic structure and policies that govern international trade in the world political space. Unfortunately Africa does not have a say presently on what should be the value of its currencies against dollar, pounds or Euro and this is the type of continent that Nigeria found itself. The leaders of most of the developed countries, if not all have continued to encourage Nigerian leaders to continue what they are doing i.e. institutionalizing corruption. The reason is that they don’t want Nigeria to get better. Hence they know that any day Nigeria escape from this slavery chain, the living condition in the West will definitely fall. Therefore, this paper tilt towards exposing this evil plan and traced it to colonialism and imperialism staged against Africa by the Western world. This paper also shows how colonialism, neocolonialism and imperialism have hampered development in Nigeria. It went further to explain how this arrangement has impoverished Nigeria and reduced her to a mere raw material producer to global prosperity for the advanced countries. Hermeneutical approaches were devised as a veritable tool in pursuance of this objective. The only way African economy and the value of its currencies can appreciate in the nearest future is if Nigeria can escape from the chain of Western economic control and reject her policies. Nigeria must be practically independent of the Western colonialism and imperialism. Nigeria must start producing and stop supplying its raw materials to the west. There is urgent need for Nigeria to move from consumption to production nation. Good governance and Industrialization will push Nigeria forward to achieving this goal. Nigeria supplying its raw materials with the already developed countries cannot develop the country. Earlier the better Nigerian leaders, citizens and the youths catch this vision, the possibility of Nigeria achieving development.
