Abstract

This work examines Robert Nozick’s theory of justice and its possible effects on Nigeria society. It has been a philosophical quagmire, debate and controversy that philosophical postulations have no practical relevance on any society or human existence. It is on this background this paper aims to evaluate Robert Nozick’s theory of justice on its societal benefits to Nigerian society. The scope of the paper is within the confines of socio-political philosophy particularly Robert Nozick’s theory of justice and its societal gains in Nigeria. The significance is so enormous that it contributes to scholarship generally and practically beneficial to Nigerian society. The paper employs analysis and reflection as methods to show that Robert Nozick’s justice theory has both positive and negative impacts on any society especially in Nigeria. Therefore, it is the finding of this paper that Robert Nozick’s theory of justice can guarantee fundamental human rights, societal fairness, human value and the actualization of resource control in Nigeria if the negative impacts are cautiously managed or avoided.
