Learning starts early for children in Africa as elsewhere, and more often than not begins at the mother's breast. Fed regularly, weaned when the time is ripe, the African child spends the first five years of his/her life in a close relationship with the mother. During this early stage, the child is reared by the mother, not by the family as a whole. However, African states equally witnessed dimensions of development in the educational development by their encounter with foreign religions and their educational system. Missionary educations of Islam and Christianity have made tremendous impact in the development of African personalities and societies. The purpose of this paper is to show the utility value of the process of education across African States.
