A reflex mission represents a unique form of Christian evangelization whereby African exslaves and other members of the African diaspora champions a new wave of global Christian evangelization that has spread from their diaspora communities to African continent, and back to secularized western world. First, the historical context of Atlantic slavery is discussed in order to contextualize the experiences of African ex-slaves. Then other forms of African migration into Europe and the Americas and the consequent emergence of African diaspora Christian communities were traced. The paper argues that African immigrant Christianity is not merely a response to migration challenges, but rather an active re-configuration of Christianity that is impacting the global church. The study concludes that this new mission has shifted the traditional power dynamics of the missionary enterprise, with African ex-slaves and migrants now playing an increasingly important role in the evangelization of both Africa and the global north.
