This paper explores the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in food production in Nigeria. This study systematically analyzes the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in food production in Nigeria, and calls for government intervention in the sector. Focus is centered on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for weeding, spraying pesticides, monitoring livestock and automating harvesting processes. Digitalization of agriculture through Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools reduces middlemen, expands market opportunities and enhances productivity and livelihoods of small scale farmers. This study explores the challenges of food shortage in Nigeria and how the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) can strike the balance. Result of this study brought to the fore an urgent need to develop policies that would facilitate sustainable food production in Nigeria
