With the ingress of Artificial Intelligence into the everyday life of humanity, we are now in an era where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping every facet of human life. However, one critical question remains: Can we protect fundamental human rights in the age of AI? This paper argues that while AI presents unprecedented challenges to the practicality and sustainability of human rights, it also offers a unique opportunity to advance these rights in new and meaningful ways. This paper defends the idea that, through the integration of human rights principles into AI development and governance, it is possible to create a framework where technology not only respects but also upholds human dignity, equality, and freedom. It explores the historical evolution of human rights and how AI threatens to undermine these gains, but also proposes how these two seemingly disparate realms, AI and human rights, can be synergized to achieve a sustainable and practical future. The paper further recommends actionable strategies such as international regulation, algorithmic accountability, and digital literacy to ensure that AI serves humanity, without diminishing its rights. Ultimately, it is through a collaborative, rights-based approach that AI can be leveraged to foster a fairer and more just society.
