This article examines the existence and essence of man in a socially challenged world. The problem of this discourse is to argue the fact that the world is socially challenged in many fronts. Through the philosophical method of phenomenology, it is found out that, in a special way, realizing the existential essence of man within Nigerian context is a near impossible task due to her own peculiar circumstances. Notwithstanding the above, in addition to other points, this study concludes that, coming together as a body and by necessary and reasonable means (dialogue; violence, if need be), we can bring the government of the day to address the challenges impeding the realization of man’s essence in Nigeria.
