Vacancies and vacuums are bound to arise in the apostolic band as a result of their vulnerability as well as mortality. Hence, the inevitability for replacement; fascinatingly, it is God who always provides replacements in and through human agency and instrumentality that is not necessarily based on ancestral connection, as it was in the Old Testament form of priesthood, but basically on divine choice and vocation as it yet makes discreet reference to the Old Testament rite of election.
