The health state of the secular press in Nigeria, today, can be said to be healthy. However, the same cannot be said of the health of the Catholic press, despite a century of using the newspaper in Nigeria. The Word of Life newspaper of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos is the focus of this study. This discourse argued that the newspaper, sadly, is fraught with a myriad of challenges that prevents it from st fulfilling its core mandate of propagating the faith in 21 century Nigeria. The study examined possible factors that made the three selected religious newspapers in the United Kingdom (The Scottish Catholic Observer, The Universe and The Scottish Episcopalian) effective and the lessons The Word of Life could learn from. The production and content values of the British religious newspapers specifically analysed.
