Death ends the temporal existence of a human being on earth. It is a mystery that has been a part of the human existence. Given that only the remembrance of a person survives after death, the family of the deceased would love to do all that is humanly possible to show the last respect with elaborate funeral ceremonies even if the deceased was not well taken care of while on earth. In the context of the 2006 pastoral letter of Bishop Gabriel G. Dunia, the Catholic bishop of Auchi, titled: "Let the dead rest in peace", we can discuss the mystery of death and what death means to the bereaved. In the pastoral letter the bishop reminded the faithful of the decree which he issued on Good Friday, the 25th of March, 2005. This decree states that: "Ecclesiastical funerals, by which the Church seeks spiritual support for the deceased, honour their bodies and at the same time brings the solace of hope to the living" (Canon 11776: $ 2), must be celebrated within two weeks...
