LANGUAGE OF THE OLD TESTAMENT IN RELIGIOUS STUDIES

The language of the Old Testament remains a veritable tool in the study of religion as a course in higher institutions around the world. It has become a major concern to researchers and teachers of Hebrew language and other related languages that facilitate the study of the Old Testament, that the promotion of this language has dwindled in the 21st century. In many academic institutions such as Universities, Colleges of Education and Theological Un,iversities and Colleges, the study of the language of the Old Testament is dormant, especially in Nigeria. The outcome of this conspicuous problem is the substandard of academic Departments and Institutions, the production of students without sound knowledge of the Old Testament in particular and Religious Studies in general. The researcher strongly avers that the language of the Old Testament should be prioritized in every academic institution where Religious Studies is an accredited Department so as to compete witos across the globe.
